Treatment of High Concentration Sulfide Wastewater by Ammonium Persulfate Oxidation Method

Treatment of high concentration sulfide wastewater by oxidation with(NH4)2S2O8 was investigated in laboratory-scale experimental apparatus under the conditions of atmospheric pressure and room temperature.The effects of mole ratio of(NH4)2S2O8 to Na2S,(NH4)2S2O8 feeding mode,initial pH and reaction time on the sulfide removal efficiency were studied.The oxidation products were determined by elemental analysis.The kinetics of the sulfide oxidation was studied.The results indicated that under the optimal conditions of n((NH4)2S2O8)︰n(Na2S)1.5,(NH4)2S2O8 aqueous solution feeding for several times,initial pH 7 and 25 min,the sulfide concentration could be decreased from 1 100 mg/L to 1.202 mg/L,and the sulfide removal rate could reached 99.89%,which could meet the requirements of reusing the oilfield wastewater.The sulfide oxidation by ammonium persulfate followed the second-order reaction kinetics under the optimal conditions and the coefficient of determination was 0.949.The contents of C,H,N,S and O elements in the oxidation products were 0.261%,0.607%,1.949%,91.026% and 2.096% respectively,and the oxidation product yield reached 86.97%.
