Experimental Study on Shear Behavior of Autoclaved Fly Ash Brick Masonry

To study the shear behavior of autoclaved fly ash brick masonry along the seam section and to provides an experimental basis for compilation of technical regulations and perfecting the Code for Design of Masonry Structures of China,shear tests were conducted on 24 samples of autoclaved fly ash solid brick masonry and 24 samples of fired clay brick masonry with 9 bricks composed of double shearing specimens.The damage patterns and shear strength are compared and analyzed.The experimental results indicate that shear strength measured value of autoclaved fly ash brick masonry increase 12% than fired clay brick masonry samples.The shear strength average value proposed formula of autoclaved fly ash brick masonry are given.Autoclaved fly ash brick masonry has good shear strength and performance.It can be used to replace clay brick in practical engineering.
