Carcinoembryonic and IgA level in saliva in the patients with tumor in oral and maxillofacial region

To detect the level of carcitients with tumor in oral and maxillofacial region.Methods:CEA was measured with ELISAand IgA with turbuidity method in 59 adult patoents with oral of maxillofacial tumor (28 withbenign and 31 with malignant ) and 40 healthadults.Results:CEA and IgA in the saliva of pa tients with oral and maxillofacial cancer were significantly higher than those in the saliva of patients with benign tumor or of health adults (P0.01).The positive rate of saliva CEA and IgAwere 61% and 55% respectively in the patients with malignant tumor.CEA and IgA comcentration in saliva were positively correlated with the grade of malignancy.Their correlation coeffiConclusion:CEA and IgA level in saliva may beused as prognostic indicator in early diagnosis of malignant tumors in oral and maxillofacial regions.
