KINETIC STUDY OF LS-951 HYDROGENATION CATALYST FOR TREATING TAIL GAS FROM CLAUS PROCESS

LS-951 catalyst exhibited excellent hydrogenation performance for treating tail gas from Claus process. It was applied in several refineries for sulfur recovery. The hydrogenation of SO2, hydrolysis reactions of COS and CS2 were observed by quadrupole mass spectrometer (QMS) running in on-line detecting mode. The quantitative compositions of the treated tail gas were obtained by converting the QMS data through the relative working curves. Finally, the kinetic equations of SO2 hydrogenation and hydrolysis of COS and CS2 over LS-951 catalyst were set up by the non-linear least square Levenberg-Marquardt method.
