Investigation of Cognitive Situation on Age-related Cataract of Senior Citizens in Guangzhou

ObjectiveTo investigate the cognitive situation on age-related cataract of senior citizens in Guangzhou and relative factors,and provide references for health education.MethodsThe survey was made on 66 elders.The customized cataract-relative cognition scale was adopted to collect data for analysis.ResultsIn all responders,30.3% known cataract well,60.6% had average knowledge,and 9.1% had poor knowledge.45.5% of responders suffered from age-related cataract,in which 53.3% with hypertension,13.3% with diabetes.The gender and income had no significant influence on the cataract-relative cognition situation(P0.05).ConclusionThe active health education can improve the knowledge of senior citizens on cataract.The high-risk factor of age-related cataract should be paid more attention and restricted.
