Application of coherence technology in the prediction of channel sand

Prediction of channel sand with coherence analysis has been widely accepted in hydrocarbon prospecting. By comparing the adjacent traces in a seismic data set, the method creates a coherence cube. The coherence cube is then analyzed by 3D visualization techniques. This method not only has a solid theoretical ground, but also yields desired results in practice. The application of coherence analysis in the prediction of channel sand can greatly improve the exploration precision and hit rate of drilling.
