Experiment on shear wave observation in anisotropy medium.

Three methods for observation of anisotropy samples were summarized according to the rotation of polarization of shooting and receiving shear wave transducers, and the recording characteristics for each observation method were analyzed under the same experimental conditions and for the same anisotropic samples. It is concluded that proper observation method should be adopted to study the propagation characteristics of shear waves in anisotropic media. Vertical polarization rotation method can be used to detect the direction of anisotropic structures, whereas parallel polarization rotation method can be used to determine the arrival times of fast and slow shear waves. Relative-rotation polarization method is a composition of the former two. In addition, observation precision can be greatly improved by using spike pulse shear wave transducer with corrected polarization, and assisted testing methods.
