Impact of Valsartan on Vascular Endothelial Function of Elderly Patients with Coronary Heart Disease

Objective To investigate the impact of valsartan on vascular endothelial function of elderly patients with coronary heart disease. Methods A total of 70 elderly patients with coronary heart disease were selected in Bazhou People' s Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from March 2016 to April 2017,and they were divided into control group and observation group according to random number table,each of 35 cases. Patients of control group received aspirin combined with metoprolol,while patients of observation group received extra valsartan based on that of control group; both groups continuously treated for 2 months. Basal diameter of brachial artery,FMD,plasma NO level and blood pressure were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results No statistically significant differences of basal diameter of brachial artery,FMD or plasma NO level was found between the two groups before treatment( P 0. 05); after treatment,FMD and plasma NO level of observation group were statistically significantly higher than those of control group( P 0. 05),while no statistically significant differences of basal diameter of brachial artery was found between the two groups( P 0. 05). No statistically significant differences of SBP or DBP was found between the two groups before and after treatment( P 0. 05). Conclusion Valsartan can effectively improve the vascular endothelial function and plasma NO level of elderly patients with coronary heart disease,and the improvement effect on vascular endothelial function does not depend on its antihypertensive effect.
