Developing New Generation Geophysical Instruments Suitable for the Requirements of Petroleum Exploration and Production of China

Nowadays the seismic prospecting techniques are expanding into the exploitation region for the whole world,there are many challenging technical problems faced with for seismic technology going into exploitation region of our country .The main problems in China,most oil gas accumulating reservoir are sand reservoir with continental deposition,the thickness of single layer is very thin to be about several meters or less. According to the capability of present seismic resolution, only about 15 meters thick sand layers can be distinguished with 3 000meters buried deep. If we push the seismic technology to go deeply into exploitation region to do reservoir description, characterization and surveillance, the seismlc resolution has to be improved first.The requirements of high resolution seismic technology of China are more urgent than any other country. The practical needs of petroluem exploration and production of our country must be considered in developing new generation instruments. We should exert ourselves in impoving the dynamic range of instantaneous recording, enhancing high frequency information and better signal to noise ratio to meet high resolution exploration of our country finally.
