Study on Current Status of Human Resources of Tuberculosis Prevention and Treatment Institutions in Hunan Province

Objective To investigate the current status of human resources in provincial,municipal and county institutions of tuberculosis prevention and treatment in Hunan Province.Methods With the self-designed human resources questionnaire,we investigated all levels of tuberculosis prevention and treatment institutions in Hunan Province.Results There were 4.6±1.3 and 5.6±1.5 persons in municipal-level and county-level institutions of tuberculosis prevention and treatment in Hunan Province,respectively.21.7% of staff members have worked in TB control organizations for 2 years or less than 2 years.The ratios of staff members with high educational background,bachelor's degree,and senior professional title were relatively low.The rate of staff members accomplished undergraduate course accounted for 13.4%,7.8%of staff members received bachelor's degree or master's degree,and 3.4% of staff members had senior professional title.66.7% of staff members obtained the doctor's qualification for public health or medical practice.There were 1.5 posts per capita.Most of staff members were in the posts of clinical doctor,project management,laboratory,and radiodiagnosis.There were more than 3 times being trained for one staff member in the post of program management,project management and supervision.Conclusions The quantity and quality of human resources of tuberculosis prevention and treatment institutions in Hunan Province is inadequate.So we should increase investment,strengthen TB rank,and improve the staff's ability by more training.
