Toxicological Assessment on Safety of Tea of Apoeynum venetum Leaf

Objective To evaluate the safety of tea of Apoeynum venetum leaf.Methods The acute toxicity,Ames test,bone marrow cell micronucleus test,mice sperm abnormality test,and 30-day feeding test were used in this study according to the procedures for toxicological assessment of food.Results The value of MTD for mice was more than 30.0 g/kg.bw,being involved in nontoxic grade.The results of Ames test,bone marrow cell micronucleus test,mice sperm abnormality test were all negative.All indexes in 30-day feeding test were not abnormal.Conclusions The tea of Apoeynum venetum leaf is safe in this study.
