Changes of Extracellular Matrix Contents in the Human Endometrium during Menstrual Cycle

Human endometrial tissue which was obtained at hysterectomy due to benign diseases was performed.TypeⅠ, Ⅲ, Ⅳ and Ⅴ collagen,fibronectin,and laminin in the endometrial tissue were studied by immunohistochemistry. The intensity of staining was studied during menstrual cycle in order to show the cyclic changes in the presence of the basement membrane. The expression of all types collagen and fibronectin was decreased in early-secretory phase,but laminin was increased in secretory phase,especially mid-secretory phase. These data suggest that extracellular matrix contents in human endometrial tissue may play an important role in the implantation. These results suggest new direction of mechanism for implantation and treatment for infertility.
