Optimization Extraction of Effective Constituents from Epimedii Herba Based on Central Composite Design-Response Surface Methodology and Orthogonal Experimental Design

Objective To optimize the process of extacting effective constituents from Epimedii Herba by orthogonal experimental design and central composite design-response surface method.Methods Independent variables were concentration of ethanol,extraction time,times of reflux and solvent fold.Dependent variable was extraction rate of icariin in Epimedii Herba.Linear or nonlinear mathematic models were used to estimate the relationship between independent and dependent variables.Results The result of the orthogonal experimental design was 60% ethanol,180 minutes for reflux,12 fold of solvent and 2 times for extraction.The other was 50% ethanol,160 minutes for reflux,12 fold of solvent and 2 times for extration.Conclusion The Central Composite Design-Response Surface Method is highly predictive in experimental design.
