THE INORGANIC CONSTITUENTS OF ACTIVATED CARBONS THE INORGANIC CONSTITUENTS AND THE EFFECTSON THE TECHNOLOGICAL PROCESSES AND THE CHARACTERISTICS OF ACTIVATED CARBONS

Chen Renhui,Shao Suhua(The Actiuated Carbon Institue, Shansi Xinhua Chemical Plant)
Abstract:The inorganic constitutents of activated carbons are usually characterized by ash. Nevertheless, the former is not identical with the latter. The Chinese term "灰分"inaccurately translated from the English term"ash"is easily to be misunderstood. The more inorganic constituents dose the coal contain, the less caking property does it show. The caking property can be markedly reduced through acid-washing to remove the inorganic constituents from coal. Some alkali metals(especially carbonates),as well as few alkaliearth metals and transition metals can promote the CH2O and the C-CO2 reactions in varying degrees. The inorganic constituents of activated carbons may finally lead to the effects on the activity, selectivity and stability of impregnated activated carbons and their surface electrical property as well.
