STUDY ON THE SUPPRESSION OF THERMAL DECOMPOSITION OF ALUMINUM TITANATE WITH COMPOSITE WAYS

Systematic investigation was made so as to allow practical USC of aluminum titanate. Its two fatal drawbacks were overcome by the following comprehensive ways: surplus Al2 03 in the formulation, addition of mullite (or formation of mullite at high tem- perature) to suppress the thermal decomposition of aluminum titanate, and optimal introduction of MgO and Cr2O3 . The batch of aluminum titanate mainly consists of natural raw materials,so its product with low cost and higher performance can be practical- ly used.
