Research progress of photocatalytic reduction of heavy metal ions in wastewater

In recent years, semiconductor photocatalysis has been widely studied as a rapidly expanding technology for wastewater treatment. However, more research is photocatalytic oxidation used for the destruction of organic pollutants and less studied but less important is the photocatalytic reduction of heavy metal ions in wastewater. The review, basing on a lot of scientific literatures, summarizes the application of photocatalytic technique in heavy metal ions, and elaborates the recent research progress of photocatalytic reduction of heavy metal ions in wastewater from three aspects, such as thermodynamic analysis, mechanism, effect factors.
