Study on the strength and toughness of low-canbon multiphase steel

Strength and toughness,microstructure,fracture morphology of steel 20 and 15Mn_3SiMo were investigated using microscope,SEM,TEM,XRD and tension testing machine.The results showed that 15Mn_3SiMo had M/A+A_(R)multiphase microstructures after normalized and normalied + tempered at 250 ℃,there were great differences in strength and toughness.Steel 20 also had F+M+A_(R)multiphase microstructures after subcritical hardening in duplex phase range(750~810 ℃),strength and plasticity appeared different change with heating temperature.Based on the research in quantity,distribution and stability of A_(R),the mechanism of strengthening and toughening of low-carbon multiphase steel were discussed.
