Determination of Chlorogenic Acid and Caffeic Acid in Sunflower Meat by Reversed Phase HPLC

A method for the determination of chlorogenic acid and caffeic acid in sunflower meat is described by reversed phase HPLC.Chromatographic separation was performed in ALLTIMA C 18 column(250mm×4.6mm ID;5μm)using an acetonitrile-2%acetic acid(15∶85by volume)mixture as a mobile phase with a flow rate of1.0mL/min and the eluate was monitored with UV detector at327nm.Chlorogenic acid and caffeic acid were eluted in18min with satisfactory separation.The method is rapid,accurate and repeatable,and was used for the determination of the contents of chlorogenic acid and caffeic acid in meats of different types of sunflower.
