STUDY ON THE PROPERTIES OF THE BLENDS OF STARCH AND POLYOLS

The blends of the starch and polyols were extruded with a single screw extruder,and the mechanical and the rheological properties of the blends were studied.The flowing active energy of the melt calculated from the rheological curves by changing temperatures was about 122.5 kJ/mol.The experimental results of X ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry show that the crystallinity of starch and T g of the starch/polyols blends decreases during the process of extrusion. The polyols used as plasticizer can help improve the propreties of the thermoprocess in the starch/polyols blends and make starch regain thermoplasticity.
