Development of Laminar Shear Box Used in Shaking Table Test

WU Xiao-ping, SUN Li-min, HU Shi-de, FAN Li-chu (State Key Laboratory for Disaster Reduction in Civil Engineering, Tongji University, Shanghai 200092, China)  
The advantages and disadvantages of all sorts of the soil boxes used in the shaking table scale model tests of soil-pile-structure dynamic interaction are compared. Based on the comparison, a laminar shear box is developed, and the free-filed shaking table test is conducted. The test result shows that the laminar shear box is very successful in simulating the soil boundary.
