Probability Density Evolution of Stochastic Structural Responses

The probability density evolution method for the analysis of linear stochastic structural static respons is proposed.Based on the state equation of the stochastic structural response,the augmented state vector is introduced and the probability density evolution equation of the stochastic structural static response is then established.Numerical solving technique is investigated.Numerical examples are studied on the response of an 8 storey frame structure with a single random parameter and multiple random parameters.Comparisons between the theoretical solutions and the numerical results by the proposed method for the structure with a single random parameter and between the results of Monte Carlo method and the proposed method for the structure with multiple random parameters show that the proposed method is accurate and feasible.
