Nonlinear Analysis of Thin-walled Spatial Steel Structures

NIE Guo-jun, ZHONG Zheng (Key Laboratory of Solid Mechanics of the Ministry of Education,Tongji Universit y,Shanghai 200092,China)
Based on the space beam element analytical model,a new thin-walled beam element model considering the restrained torsion was derived in this paper. The elastic stiffness matrix of this new model is 14×14.The effect of axial force, shearing force, biaxial bending moment and bimoment was involved in the geometrical stiffn ess matrix of element. The yielding developments both across the section and alon g the axis of the member were taken into consideration by the finite-cut of ele ment, and the elasto-plastic analysis of thin-walled spatial steel structures w as achieved.Numerical examples prove the correctness of the analysis model of t his paper, and show the characteristics of warping restraint torsion of thin-wal led spatial structures.
