Viscoelastic Mechanical Analysis of Stability in Circular Underground Tunnels

Based on some rock testing results in laboratory, a logarithmic law is presented as a constitutive model to describe rock creep. With the model, the underground tunnel which is excavated at great depth beneath ground is discussed by taking rock behaviour as a viscoelastic body. The linear support is assumed.And the interaction between rock and support is analysed. By means of mechanical analysis underground tunnel stability is formulated in a governingequation which can reasonably explain some phenomena happening in the tunnel.
