Study on Using Bio-contact Oxidation Pretreatment Technique to Purify Light-polluted Raw Water

Water resource is being polluted extensively. While the light-polluted raw water is being disinfected by chlorination in waterworks, THMs(Trihalomathanes), the doubtful cancerogenic substances, will be easily produced in water,which impairs the safety of drinking water. The traditional water purification processes must be required to meet the treatment requirements of light-polluted raw water. The bio-contact oxidation tank, which is designed rcasonably, can remove many kinds of pollutants in light-polluted raw water economically and effectively, such as NH3-N, NO2--N, COD, TOC, turbidity, iron, mangancce and phenol, et al. Through the bio-contact oxidation pretreatment and some reasonable following treatment processes, the light-polluted raw water, which is positive in Ames assey, can be turned into nogative water. The latter is safe and hygienic for drinking. This steady is commonly and greatly of practical significance for the development of water supply engineering and the mitigation of the contradiction of water resource.
