Catalytic activity of strongly acidic PTFE matrix ion exchange fibers for synthesis of n-butyl acetate

A strongly acidic ion exchange fiber is prepared by radiation-induced grafting of styrene onto PTFE using simultaneous irradiation technique followed by a sulfonated reaction, which is used to catalyze the synthesis of n-butyl acetate. The optimum reaction conditions is as follows: the amount of catalyst is 5. 00%( wt) , the mole ratio of acetic acid and n-butyl alcohol is 1: 1, the reaction temperature is 110 ℃ and reaction time is 80 min. The conversion of esterification can reach 99. 12%. The fiber can be used repeatedly after regenerated or directly used without any treatment, and it is a novel environmental friendly catalyst with good stability and selectivity.
