Investigation and Evaluation on Nitrate Contamination in Water of Tianjin

LI Ming-yue,ZHU Jing-hua,LIAN Xiao-juan,PAN Jie,WANG Yan(Tianjin Institute of Agriculture Resources and Environment Sciences,Tianjin 300384,China)  
202 water samples were collected at July,2006 and nitrate content was determined.The results showed that the total nitrate content in water of Tianjin was at a low level with 5.79 mg/kg.It had an obvious difference among all kinds of water,and the order from high to low was well water above 100 mblowdown riverriverirrigation canalwell water under 100 mreservoir.The study of nitrate content of 103 groundwater samples showed that with the groundwater level rise,the nitrate content had an upward trend.Questionnaire interviews were conducted on agricultural fertilization level.It showed that the groundwater of vegetable area was widely polluted due to the high application level of nitrogen fertilizer.Regional control measures must be made and implemented in this region in the later years.
