Effect of cobalt on rhizosphere microbial community of Lolium perenne

In order to evaluate the toxicity effect of cobalt(Co) on rhizosphere microorganisms,the effect of Co on rhi-zosphere microbial community of Lolium perenne was analyzed by using Biolog ECO plate,and the utilization of 31 kinds of carbon sources by rhizosphere microorganisms was also estimated. The results showed that the rhizosphere microbial activity increased with 20 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg Co treatments. The average well color development of the Biolog ECO plate in the rhizosphere microbial community after the culture of 40 d was significantly higher than those in the control check and the high concentration(1 000 mg/kg)treatment group(P 0.05). The high concentration Co treatment had no significant effect on the activity of rhizosphere microorganism. The changes of the Shannon-Wiener index and Simpson index in different concentrations of Co treatmeat on rhizosphere microbial community of Lolium perenne revealed that the low concentration Co treatment(20 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg)improved the system stability of the rhizosphere microbial population. The results of carbon uti lization indicated that 19 kinds of carbon sources, such as L-serine,beta-methyl-D-glucoside and D-mannitol,had obvious effect on the rhizosphere microbial community of Lolium perenne.
