Synthesis and structure of bis-imidazolium salt and its silver(Ⅰ) complexes based on 1,5-dihydroxynaphthalene

1,5-Bis [3′-(N-ethylimidazoliumyl)propoxy]naphthalene hexafluorophosphate(Ⅰ) and its anionic complex(Ⅱ)as well as N-heterocyclic carbene(NHC)silver complex(Ⅲ)were designed and synthesized by the method of continuous reaction. The structures of complexesⅡandⅢwere characterized by ~1H NMR,~(13)C NMR and X-ray single crystal diffraction. In the cationic unit of Ⅱ,two imidazole rings are parallel and point in opposite directions. Additionally,the naphthalene ring and two imidazole rings form a dihedral angle of 12.9(6)°. In one-dimensional polymeric chain of Ⅲ,all naphthalene rings are parallel,and all imidazole rings on the same side of silver ion are also parallel. The distance of Ag … Ag is 0.964(8)nm. In the crystal stacking of complexes Ⅱ and Ⅲ,two-dimensional supramolecular layers and three-dimensional supramolecular frameworks are formed by intermolecular weak interactions,such as C—H … I hydrogen bonds,C—H … F hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking interactions. Studies of fluorescence emission spectra of compounds Ⅰ-Ⅲ showed that the fluorescence intensity of N-heterocyclic carbene silver Ⅲ is significantly enhanced compared with imidazole salt Ⅰ.
