Effect of Copper Deficiency on the Immunologic Function in Dairy Cattle

cows without evidently clinical symptom were selected as sub- clinical group (the concentration of whole blood copper is below the lower limit of NRC(0 .8m g/ kg) ) and15 ones am ong them were supplem ented with copper sulfate(10 0 mg/ kg dry m atter) to clarify the changes of im mune m echanism and effect of copper deficiency on the im munological function in dairy cattle while 15 clinically healthy cows were used as control. Som e parameters were determ ined on the day of 0 ,4 0 and80 respectively as the contents of circulatory im mune complex(CIC) and serum Ig G,counts of lym phocyte subpopulations and ANAE- T+ ,the rates of C3b receptor and immune complex garland,percentages of serum prom oting and pressing adhe- sion factors in the peripheral blood. The results show that the contents of CIC,the rates of C3b receptor and percentages of serum pressing adhesion factors(ERER) in morbid and sub- clinical group were significantly higher than those of controgroup;but the content of serum Ig G,counts of lymphocyte T subpopulations and ANAE- T+ ,rate of imm une com plex gar- land of erythrocytes were significantly lower than those of control group.After4 0 days of supplementation,the contents of CIC,rates of im mune complex garland of erythrocytes in sub- clinical group were significantly decreased while the counts of lym phocyte T subpopulations,rates of C3b receptor were significantly increased(P0 .0 5 ) com pared with those indexes de- termined before the supplem entation.On the days of80 ,the contents of CIC and rate of imm une complex garland of erythro- cytes in the sub- clinical group were intended to decline continuously,further more,the contents of Ig G,ANAE- T+count and the rate of C3b receptor were significantly increased compared with those indexes determined before the supplementation (P0 .0 5 ) .Conclusion:copper deficiency could inhibit the imm unological mechanism of dairy cattle,Supplem entation of copper would im prove the imm unological function of dairy cattle with copper deficiency.
