Research on Magnetic Cenosphere Absorbent and Light Weight Radar Absorptive Coatings

The surface of cenosphere with particle size 8~26μm was coated with Ni - P and Ni - Co -P alloy layer by basic electroless plating technology.Effects of composite stabilizer,activation process,continuous electroless plating technology and stirring methods on plating content and micro - morphology have been studied.The metal content of plated cenosphere reaches over 85%,and P content less than 5%. Through structure impedance matching design,radar absorptive coating was prepared by taking different content plated cenosphere as absorbent,on which the 8 mm and 3 mm radar reflective attenuation was more than 10 dB.Test results showed that the plated cenosphere is a kind of light - weight absorbent with eletromagnetic funtion,which provides a new way to realize the characteristic of"thin,light,wide and strong"for radar stealth material.
