NUMERICAL STUDY ON PARAMETRIC RESONANCE OF CABLE IN CABLE STAYED BRIDGE

In this paper the mathematical model of multiple degree of freedom for the parametric vibration problem of cable stayed bridge cable is presented and solved with direct integration method. It is pointed out that the parametric resonance may occur in the cable stayed bridge due to the deck vibration under certain conditions. On the basis of numerical results obtained , the effects of structural damping and some other factors are investigated and the possible approaches of cable oscillation reduction are also discussed.
