The large scale construction of highrises with portions of basements without superstructure, as well as the underguound car parking building in our major cities has made the anti-uplift design a very critical problem. No answer could be found in different existing codes concerning the distribution patterns of the uplifting force varying with the embedding depth of foundations or the exact values that should be taken in structure designing. Taking the comprehensive work completed recently in Beijing City as an example, the present paper brought forward a possible approach to solve this problem. Steps described in this paper including researching of the characteristics of the layered ground water conformations and seepage patterns, finding the major factors controlling the variations of time-history records of groundwater table and seepage analysis.
