SIMPLIFIED FORMULAS FOR SEISMIC?ISOLATION REGULAR BRIDGE

Zhou Xi yuan Li Zhong Xi (China Academg of Building Research)  
The seismic?isolation regular bridge is regarded as a double degree?of?freedom system of shear model.Based on the peculiarities of that the horizontal stiffness of piers is much greater than that of rubber bearings and the mass of the superstructure is much larger than that of piers, a set of approximate formulas for calculating natural frequencies, mode shapes, modal participation factors,and modal damping ratios are proposed in the paper. These formulas can be easily used in design of seismic?isolation regular bridge. The accuracies of formulas how depending on mass ratio and stiffness ratio are analyzed. The results of accuracy analysis and numerical example show that the proposed simplified formulas are accurate enough.
