INCLINATION-CONTROL AND STRENGTHENING TECHNOLOGY APPLIED TO HUQIU PAGODA

Yuan Jinli Liu Dianhua Li Shengcai Yao Ling Yang Funan (Yangzhou University) (Suzhou Administration of Cultural Relics)  
Huqiu pagoda is one with the longest age and largest gradient in the existing Chinese pavilion style pagodas.From 1981 to 1986,Chinese civil engineering community carried out a complete strengthening and remedy project to this ancient pagoda,which was near to dangerous situation. The strengthening technology used for the project includes "stockade, grouting,anti-seepage,rectification and replacement"according to the policy that strengthening groundbase is primary and that rectifying inclination is considered as an assistance so as to controll the foundation settlement and stabilize the structure inclining of the pagoda basically.The project can provide a beneficial reference for protection of human culture heritages. Based on original construction records and monitoring data obtained in more than twenty years and combined with field test and computer simulation,this paper puts emphasis on analysis of the incline causation the strengthening technology and execution result on Huqiu Pagoda.
