The axial compressive behavior of CFRP-confined rectangular RC columns under service loading

Through the test of five CFRP confined rectangular RC columns under high axial compression ratio and one reference column,combining with nonlinear analysis,the axial compressive properties of columns,CFRP confinement mechanism and failure mode are studied.The failure mode of CFRP confined rectangular columns is flexural failure and the ductility is good when the axial compression ratio is high and the constraint is strong,without CFRP rupture.Combining with our previous studies,a relational expression of axial compression ratio and CFRP hoop orientation strain,a model of compressive strength and axial strain for FRP-confined concrete in rectangular columns and a formula of ultimate axial compressive strength under service loading are provided,which all match favorably with the experimental results.
