Effect of boron on the biochemical function of pollen

ZENG Li-xia,AI Ying-wei(Key Laboratory of Bio-resources and Eco-environments,Ministry of Education,College of Life Science,Sichuan University,Chengdu 610064)
We reviewed the advances in research of biochemical function of boron in pollen, including: the formation of borate cross-linked RG-II dimmer, the metabolism of Hydroxyproline Rich Glycoproteins, and the change of Ca2+ concentration in pollen cell.Abnormalities of the content and distribution of callose and phenolics are also mentioned. Some suggestions for research on boron nutrition in plant based on agricultural status are proposed.
