Influence of different tillage,straw and nitrogen management on weeds biomass in winter wheat-summer maize rotation systems

Weeds was one of the most important factors causing crop yield reduction,which were affected by multi-management in agricultural production.This research was conducted to explore the effects of the different tillage,crop straw and nitrogen(N)managements on weeds in winter wheat-summer maize rotation system in North China Plain.The results suggested that:(1)The weeds grew critically in summer maize growing season with average weeds species and average total weeds biomass being 1.25 and 6.66 times separately at jointing stage of summer maize as many or much as that at the jointing stage of winter wheat.It would be a key time to control weeds during the whole rotation season.And the predominant weed specie was crab grass,followed by ivy glorybind and barnyard grass that were important objects for prevention.(2)Different managements had no significant effects on weeds biomass in winter wheat growing season in this rotation system.(3)In summer maize growing season,the average weeds biomass in no-tillage treatments was 77.5%~99.4% higher than that in half-tillage.No wheat straw returning as mulching reduced the increasing effects of no-tillage on weeds biomass at the stage of jointing stage of summer maize.(4)In summer maize sowing season,average weeds biomass in treatments of high rate of N application(240 kg·hm-2)was significantly reduced by 55.9% compared with that of low rate of N application(120 kg·hm-2).Tillage and N significantly interacted on weeds biomass with the weeds biomass in treatment of no-tillage and N1 being 4.05 times as that in treatment of half-tillage and high rate of N application.However,high rate of N application had no significant effect on suppression of weeds under the condition of tillage.So we suggested that the comprehensive prevention of weeds should be enhanced in summer maize growing season in winter wheat-summer maize rotation system in North China Plain the technique of mulching straw retained could be used to suppress the weeds,optimizing the N management to improve crop growth that could control the weeds,especially under the condition of no-tillage could be reduced the harm of weeds to some extent by properly increasing the N input rate.
