Prospects for Exploring Natural Gas in Liaodong Bay

He Bingjun
Liaodong Bay district is a Cenozoic sedimentary region and its basement is Pre-tertiary. The abundant source rocks were deposited during the subsidence period. The synchronous gravity flow sedi-ments and the large delta system formed during the basin-expanding period are the favourable areas for accumulating hydrocarbons. The gas source rock is mainly the third member of Shahejie Formation of Eocene and the lower member of Dongying Formation of Oligocene may be the other set of gas source rock in this region. So that, it has a good prospect of natural gas resources.
