Blowouts out of control during petroleum drilling and completion are really disastrous accidents, which will tend to bring severe damage to human assets and human lives, contaminate environment, and destroy the resources buried underground. The spurt-out speed of the blowout at the wellhead, the internal pressure at the exit, and the potential of the blowing zones are important basic data for blowout control program planning and execution. Since the wellhead environment of the uncontrolled blowout well is complicated, it's impossible to install instruments at the wellhead or place reference indicators in the high-speed gushing stream. The necessary data listed above can not be obtained directly. By using the physical parameters of the formations gathered during drilling and geologic work, this paper has probed into models for predicting gush-out speed of the blowout in wellbores with different sizes and different configurations, so as to facilitate the planning and execution of blowout control procedures.
