Variation of Sand and Loess Properties of Binary Structure Profile in Hilly Region Covered by Sand of the Loess Plateau

Investigating and sampling were conducted in Liudaogou watershed which located in Shenmu county of Shaanxi province and was a typical watershed in loess hilly region covered by sand of the Loess Plateau.Bulk density,particle composition,porosity,saturated hydraulic conductivity and moisture characteristic curve of sand and loess layer were analyzed in laboratory.The results showed that:The physical properties of sand and loess layer were significantly different,especially for particle composition,saturated hydraulic conductivity and moisture characteristic curve.The significant differences of the physical properties of sand and loess layer resulted in the special process of infiltration,runoff and erosion on this slope.
