Effect of P and Zn on wheat growth, Zn absorption and distribution in calcareous soil

Be aimed at the complicated relation between on P and Zn, the effects of P and Zn applied on the availability of Zn in cal- careous soil, the growth of wheat, the concentration of Zn in wheat plants and seed was studied by pot experiment. The results showed that added Zn could significantly increased the soil DTPA-extractable Zn concentration, and increased with added P content increased. The wheat stem+leaf+seed shell dry weight was decreased with added Zn content increased under different P treatments, but increased wheat seed dry weight. The Zn concentration in stem and leaf was significantly decreased with added P content increased under different Zn treatments, but increased the Zn concentration in seed, and also increased the Zn accumulation content. Zn concentration and accu- mulation in wheat plant was increased with added Zn content increased. So, added P fertilizer into calcareous soil increased the DTPA-extractable Zn concentration in soil, promoted wheat growth, decreased the Zn concentration in wheat leaves and stems, but in- creased the Zn concentration in seed. In conclusion, P addition accelerated Zn transport to over ground wheat plants.
