Chromatographic and Spectroscopic Study on Molecular Recognition Mechanism of Indole-3-Acetic Acid-Imprinted Polymer

Indole-3-acetic acid(3-IAA)-imprinted polymer(P(AA)) was prepared by non-covalent molecular imprinting technique using acrylamide(AA) as the functional monomer and acetonitrile(MeCN) as the porogen by bulk polymerization method.The molecular recognition performances of P(AA) were evaluated by high-performance liquid chromatography.The results showed that P(AA) exhibited the ability to recognize 3-IAA when MeCN was employed as the mobile phase.And the imprinting factor(IF) was 3.33.In addition,small amount of HAc or H2O in MeCN reduced IF value greatly,which proved that hydrogen-bonding played an important role in the molecular recognition of P(AA) showed specific affinity to 3-IAA among the substrates and the mixture of 3-IAA and indole-3-butyric acid(3-IBA) achieved almost a baseline separation on the column packed with P(AA).All the above experimental results supported that P(AA) remained cavities which were complementary to 3-IAA both in size and in the arrangement of functionalities.Furthermore,such spectroscopic techniques as UV,fluorometry,and infrared spectroscopy were utilized to investigate the interaction between 3-IAA and AA in MeCN solution.
