In this paper, on the bases of investigation of the natural conditions, soil properties and socio-economic conditions, we evaluated the suitable potential for "burnt-sweet smelling" distinctive tobacco growth in Xuancheng. The results showed that: Xuancheng is generally suitable for distinctive tobacco growth with a great potential, the total suitable area is 3.84 ×104 hm2, which is about 3.11% of the total land area, among of which, the suitable areas of the first, second and third grades are 0.74 ×104, 1.27 ×104 and 1.83 ×104 hm2, respectively; but different strategies should be adopted in different regions for the growth of distinctive tobacco.
