SUBMARINE GEOMORPHOLOGY OF THE XIAMEN HARBOUR AND ITS SCOURING-SILTING CHANGE

The characteristics of submarine geomorphology of the Xiamen Harbour and the quality, quantity and rate of scouring-silting change are preliminari- ly analyzed, based on the data of shallow stratigraphic profile, submarine sediment, hydrology and silt, as well as the comparison between the charts published in varying years(1904, 1938, 1976, 1982). Four scouring-silting dynamic regions are distinguished in the Xiamen Harbour, i. e. strong silting region of the Jiulong River submarine delta, weak silting region of the Outer Xiamen Harbour tidal shoal, strong scouring-silting region of the West Xiamen Harbour tidal channel and shoal, and silting region of the Xunjiang tidal shoal. The silting sources and scouring-silting tendencies of these regions are analyzed in detail, providing a scientific basis for rational exploition.
