Comparative Analysis of Serve Characteristics of World Elite Male Tennis Players——Research Based on the Perspective of Different Play Types

LI Zhi-gang;WANG Chang;School of Physical Education,Northeast Normal University;
By using the methods of literature review, video observation and expert interview, this paper makes a comparative analysis on the serve characteristics of different types of tennis players, which provides practical ideas for improving the serve effect and the mutual transformation of different types of tennis players. This study found that the bottom line and comprehensive type athletes have higher success rate of 1st serve won, winning rate, ACES, serve speed and low double fault rate. While the net type player has a higher 1st serve won and double win rate. Comprehensive players have great confidence in their serve and strong randomness to the service placement. Bottom line players tend to keep their serve steady, especially in the case of one fault, and the secondary point is more inclined to the outer corner and the middle road. The net type players tend to drop their serve out of the corner and use a wide Angle serve to mobilize their opponents, thus creating opportunities for themselves to access the net. But in the case of a mistake on the first serve, the player also tends to adopt a stable serve strategy.
