A Study on The Sorption and Desorption of Phosphate by Sediments in the Yangtze River Estuary

The phosphorus is an important nutritious substance in biosphere.It is indispensable for probing into eutrophication to study on the phosphorus forms in sediments in the Yangtze River estuary.On the basis of results from site monitoring around the Yangtze River estuary and experimental analysis for those samples,the sorption and desorption of phosphate by suspended sediments and sediments in the Yangtze River estuary were studied on aspects such as dynamics,isothermal adsorption of phosphate by suspended sediments and sediments, as well as effects of pH,the salinity,and the concentration of sediments.The relation between phosphate and those factors was obtained.Adsorption equilibrium time,saturated adsorption quantity by sediments,corresponding release quantity,and so on,were calculated.The results are of importance to the water quality administration and pollution control in the Yangtze River estuary.
