NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF FLOW FIELD AND AERODYNAMIC PERFORMANCE OF A WIND TURBINE BLADE

The 3D Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations were used to simulate the flow-fields around the blade of the PhaseⅥdesigned by NREL.The aerodynamic performance of the wind turbine blade with inlet flow speed of 7m/s was calculated and compared with the experimental results.The stall on profiles,the 3D characteristics,the distributions of lift coefficient and drag coefficient along the radial direction and the distribution of power were analyzed.It was shown that compared with the 2D simulations,the 3D simulations can reflect the aerodynamic characteristics of flow field around blades more accurately.The numerical simulation had a good accuracy,and could be an important basis for further development of aerodynamic analysis of wind turbine blades and blade design tools.
