Triassic source rock characteristics in Yakela of Shaya Uplift, Tarim Basin

Triassic dark-gray mudstone and black carbonaceous shale were encountered by drilling in Yakela area of Shaya Uplift, Tarim Basin. Geochemical analysis of cuttings and cores shows that the Triassic source rock in this area has relatively good ~ good abundance of organic matters, mainly contains Type Ⅲ and ⅡB kerogen, being in the stage of mature-peak hydrocarbon generation, and possesses certain potential of hydrocarbon generation. The soluble organic matter is characterized by high pristane/phytane ratio and low dibenzothiophene/phenanthrene ratio. C21/C23 tricyclic terpane is over 1.0. C27~C29 steranes exhibit a reversed "L" distribution. The geochemical properties are distinctly different from those of Tahe oils and O3l Ordovician source rock. No C30 rearranged hopane has been detected in Triassic source rock; this is also different from the lower lacustrine mudstone in Jurassic Qakemake formation in Kuqa Depression. The Triassic source rock in Yakela area has certain resource potential.
