Microstructure of Hypereutectic Al-Si Alloy with Electromagnetic Stirring

Li Shusuo Wang Deren Mao Weimin Zhong Xueyou (Beijing University of Science and Technology)  
The microstructure of Al-24%Si alloy with electromagnetic stirring has been studied. The results show that: Primary Si phase can be broken by the stirring, and the broken Si fragments have a coalescent tendency. During non-equilibrium solidification, a phase can also be broken and the broken a phase particles appears as round particle. There is a rich Si layer at the surface of the sample.
