Mechanical Properties of Cu-Al-Be Super-elasticity Alloy

The Cu-Al-Be super-elasticity alloy wire with 1.2 mm in diameter has been produced by the heated mould continuous casting. The mechanical properties of the alloy have been examined by bending fatigue and tensile testing. The results show that the alloy exhibits better elasticity and plasticity with elastic strain more than 20% and plastic strain up to 40%. The fatigue service life of the as-cast alloy can reach 50 283 cycles and the heat treated alloy can reach 168 480 cycles. The testing results show that the Cu-Al-Be alloy has a great potential for engineering application.
